I learned something new today!
My little 3-year-old grandson Connor came by to see me after he left preschool. He goes to preschool at our church, which happens to be where I work. So, lucky me, I get to see him a lot. He is one precious little guy.
He’s at a perfect age to be very much into the Army and soldiers these days. His grandfather D-Daddy had gone to the Army/Navy Surplus Store for Christmas and bought him more camouflage clothes and some great patches. You see, he’s a veteran, so he knows all about the patches and what they mean. And Connor wears those clothes with great pride.
Mom Laura got the patches all sown on when hubby Preston looked at them and said, “The flag’s on the wrong arm.”
Now, how could we have known?! Only guys would know that! He said proudly, “That flag goes on the right arm because when a soldier goes into battle and he raises his right arm, the stripes look like they’re blowing in the wind.”
I never knew that. What a great thing to know!
Sure enough, I looked on the internet and found these…

So, now you know. When you sow patches on your little boy’s uniform, you now have the facts! Just one more thing for moms of boys to know!
I love the military. My husband is a veteran of the Vietnam war. He left for Vietnam in 1968 when our first son, Preston (as in Connor’s dad above), was 3 weeks old. One year later, when Tom returned, he was 80 pounds lighter, glowed in the dark from being in the sun for months, and his baby was walking and talking.
I love American soldiers and I have the greatest respect for them and for our flag! God bless America and God bless our soldiers!
